Fragments of an Adoration of the Magi
techniek: Oil on Oak, 37.5 x 22.5 cm, 36.2 x 21.3 cm
These two small panels are fragments of the wings of a triptych, the central panel of which depicts the Adoration of the Magi. That work is currently held in a private collection. On the left-hand panel we see two shepherds with an ox and a donkey in the background. The other panel depicts the retinue of the magi who worship Christ in the central panel. The fragments can be linked to a triptych owned by the English National Trust, a work in Anderlecht (in Brussels), and one in Het Noordbrabants Museum in ’s-Hertogenbosch - all painted by followers of Hieronymus Bosch. |  |
